Cut yarn, leaving a long end for sewing. With yarn needle, thread yarn through rem sts, draw up firmly and fasten securely. Sew center front seam to markers. Sew center back seam. Allow side edges to curl naturally to the wrong side and loosely sl st in place. With yarn needle thread a double strand of the elastic thread through the wrong side of the folded area, draw up to fit and fasten securely.
Optional: Sew on purchased trims.
TIP: Markers are temporary reminders. Remove them when they are no longer needed.
TIP: Instead of binding off, stitches are sometimes secured by weaving the yarn tail through them: just slip each stitch purlwise onto the yarn needle and draw the yarn through. This method is used for hats, mittens and the slippers above.
TIP: Fabric made of acrylic yarn and Garter stitch has a lot of give; each slipper size will fit a number of shoe sizes and widths.
